Meet the group of international students who began their College journeys in fall 2020 amid the height of the COVID pandemic — which meant they had to attend off-site campus programs or participate virtually. Four cohorts were formed: two in China, one in England, and one solely remote.

Senior Class to Gather at May 11 Commencement

Members of the graduating cohort have emerged as leaders, scholars and humanitarians despite the challenges presented by the global pandemic. “Class of 2024, you are starting all new types of traditions,” F&M President Barbara Altmann told students during her August 2020 convocation remarks.

Honorary Degree & Commencement Speaker

An honorary degree is F&M’s highest honor presented to those who represent the F&M mission through qualities of intellect, creativity, and character. One such individual is chosen annually to serve as the commencement speaker. Jason Cone '99 delivered the address at Franklin & Marshall’s 237th Commencement and also received an honorary doctorate of humane letters. Madeline Anderson, a Lancaster native and a media pioneer who is the first Black woman to produce and direct a TV documentary, received an honorary doctorate of humane letters at Franklin & Marshall’s 237th Commencement.
