Helen LongAdmission Representative
As a first generation college student, Helen achieved her goal of graduating college with a B.S. in a dual certification program of Elementary Education and Special Education from Millersville University. She then returned to Millersville University for a Masters Degree in School Counseling. After spending 11 years teaching at the high school level, Helen moved to School Counseling for 24 years. After 35 years working in high schools Helen retired in 2013.
Helen came to Franklin & Marshall after spending 11 months in "retirement". Having grown up as a "neighbor" to Franklin & Marshall, Helen has a deep understanding of the history and mission of the college as well as the surrounding community.
Having been a resident of Lancaster since age five Helen knows Lancaster. She's active in the community in several ways from sitting on the panel of the Athletic Hall of Honor at her local high school, Lancaster Catholic High School, volunteering at her church, volunteering with the local Meals on Wheels, and bicycling about 50 or so miles each week with the local Lancaster Bike Club. Helen is a huge basketball fan and enjoys watching the exciting things happening in the world of college and professional basketball for women. Also, if you want to know some places to visit in Lancaster County Helen is more than willing to chat.
