Julia Adams is the Director of Fellowships in the Office of Fellowships. She received her Doctorate in Historical Musicology from Boston University. Her research interests are opera and the impact of active collaboration in music ensembles, with particular focus on comic operas by Antonín Dvořák, Stanislaw Moniuszko, and Mozart. Her book Musical Humor and Antonín Dvořák’s Comic Operas considers music's role in communicating humor, and analyzes Dvořák’s compositional mastery with these strategies and techniques. She taught Music History, Music Theory, and Connections courses at F&M. She is also the Founder Emerita and former Artistic Director for Calliope, Boston’s Collaborative Choral/Orchestral Ensemble.
