Nina M CastilloAdmission Representative

As an F&M grad, I have known F&M for a long time!  From the time I was a student, I have enjoyed Lancaster city and the wonderful mix of small town and big city that it is able to combine.  As a student, I had a part time job in a quirky old bookstore downtown and loved the opportunity to feel a part of the city.  After F&M, I went back to NYC and attended Columbia University for a graduate degree in Library Science.  After years as a reference librarian in a variety of libraries and more years raising children, I have had a great time returning to F&M as part of the Admission Staff.  Our current students are what keep me energized and enthusiastic about the future!

What is your favorite spot on campus?

I have always loved our library.  It was my favorite place as a student and it is still my favorite place today.  As I no longer have to study for classes or prepare research papers, I can now enjoy the browsing collection guilt free!

What is your favorite part about Lancaster?

Hammond’s Pretzels on West End Avenue.  The pretzels are delicious, a real PA treat, and you can have them scooped up for you fresh from the conveyor belt.  If you peek in the back window of the shop, you can see the pretzels being hand twisted. Or you can visit our office and help yourself from the bowl on the front desk!
