Rachel MarloweAdmissions Counselor

Biography

A native of Chester County, PA and a graduate of Muhlenberg College, Rachel has been in and around Lancaster and the small liberal arts college environment her entire life. As a collegiate, Rachel dove head-first into all aspects of campus life, performing in Muhlenberg’s Broadway a capella group, and joining Phi Mu Fraternity, where she held the leadership positions of Public Relations/Alumni Chair, Chaplain and Panhellenic Delegate, leading her to hold the position of secretary for the Muhlenberg Panhellenic Council. Graduating in 2010 with degrees in Theatre and Dance, Rachel spent her post-collegiate years working for various theatres in the Philadelphia suburbs, performing onstage and teaching educational courses to young performers. She also worked for many years as both a performer and a choreographer with the 6ABC Philadelphia Thanksgiving Day Parade.

In 2010, Rachel’s passion for the performing arts led her into the classroom where she joined the Theatre Department of Tower Hill School in Wilmington, Delaware, teaching theatre and dance to grades Pre-K through 12. After eleven wonderful years at THS, Rachel moved on to teach theatre and dance at Upland Country Day School, The Baldwin School and Saint Mark’s High School. In 2021, Rachel completed her Masters in Dance Education at the University of Northern Colorado.

Concluding her tenure as a classroom teacher in 2024, Rachel transitioned into higher education here at Franklin and Marshall! Cultivating inclusion and warmth in her classroom and helping students find their homes in academic settings has always been a passion of Rachel’s. She is excited to help future Diplomats find their homes here at F&M!

In her spare time, Rachel enjoys reading, taking yoga and dance classes, crafting, taking in the rich art and food culture of Lancaster and best of all, spending time with her roommate (who also happens to be her sister!) their cats, family and friends.

What does being a Diplomat mean to you?

As an Enneagram 9 (The Peacemaker) through-and-through, I consider diplomacy one of my super powers. Creating a welcoming and warm environment to foster a sense of collaboration and cohesion among all voices in the room, all while working toward a common goal, underpins my personality and my occupational philosophy, and is the essence of a diplomat!

What is your favorite spot on campus?

I have to pick just one?! I’m a huge fan of the historical quad. Anytime I can steal a minute, you’ll find me on a blanket outside of Old Main, wishing I was back in college again (hey, I’m as close as I can get!).

What is your favorite part about Lancaster?

The desserts. When I first moved to Lancaster, I walked around downtown just about every day and quickly fell in love with all of the sweet shops. I have since dubbed Lancaster, “Little Treat Town.”
