Rebecca L RotherDirector of Recruitment
Biography
Rebecca grew up in Silver Spring, Maryland and made her way to Goucher College where she graduated with a degree in American studies in January 2011. She joined the student ambassador program in the third week of her first year and, after spending a semester abroad when she wasn’t giving tours, she knew she was hooked. After graduation she worked at Goucher for six months and then moved to McDaniel College in Westminster, MD. While there she recruited for Pennsylvania, so knew about F&M and its great reputation. In search of adventure Rebecca moved to Austin, TX to work for Southwestern University for seven years. When the heat became a bit too much she decided to move back to the east coast and that previous knowledge of F&M led her to apply for a position recruiting future Diplomats.
When not working, Rebecca enjoys spending time with her dog Matilda (a pit/boxer mix) and exploring the local area. As a new Lancaster resident, it’s wonderful to always stumble on an unexpected cuisine or cool shop in the city. She also spends time singing in the synagogue choir and enjoys baking.
What does being a Diplomat mean to you?
Community and mutual respect. Our students care about one another and genuinely want to learn and engage about their differences.
What is your favorite spot on campus?
I love Hartman Green because it’s truly the center of campus. It is always fun to walk through and see what event the students are participating in on any given day and also a great spot for people watching!
What is your favorite part about Lancaster?
I love the walkability of the city. Having lived most of my life in suburban areas it’s wonderful to know that you can leave your car at home and still have access to almost anything you’d want within the city.
