F&M Women & Philanthropy

Franklin & Marshall’s strength is bolstered by the enduring legacy of the first women to enroll in 1969.

F&M Women & Philanthropy

Beginning with their historic graduation in May 1973, women leaders have transformed the College into a more vibrant, exceptional institution through contributions as scholars, artists, researchers and agents of change. Their legacy challenges each of us to do more and to do better.

F&M’s future relies on these women to lead the way by empowering growth and shaping the landscape of global industry and culture.

"Franklin & Marshall women are leaders—they always have been, and they always will be. It’s up to us, as alumnae, to affirm the legacy of the women who went before us and to secure a strong future for the women who will follow in our footsteps."

Celebrating Women Who Inspire Us

The Women & Philanthropy movement is not defined by gendered boundaries, but by a shared commitment to F&M’s future. As philanthropic thought leader Kathleen Loehr notes in her book “Gender Matters,” successful organizations ask women about their motivations, preferences and goals.

To better engage women donors, it is essential to understand the sometimes unique behaviors that drive their generosity. As Loehr explains, women’s giving is often deeply rooted in collaboration, informed intent and meaningful partnership. Inviting donors to contribute their expertise and time alongside their financial resources creates an incubator for high-impact, purpose-driven roles. When our entire community embraces these principles, we don't just secure gifts — we build a momentous and collective force for change.

"Women often have a very distinct relationship to philanthropy and a very different perspective on what it means to establish a legacy. The future of institutions as venerable as Franklin & Marshall depends on the support of those women and their commitment to an outstanding undergraduate experience."

Give in Honor of Women Who Shape Our Story

Each F&M community member can point to a woman who inspired them, challenged them and celebrated them. With your gift to the College, you honor those that came before us, those who stand beside us and those who will continue to shape the future of F&M.

Alumni, parents, faculty, professional staff and friends are invited to make gift commitments in honor of women who shaped their lives — faculty, mentors, coaches, friends, family and other alumni. Now is the moment to consider the women central to your personal story and to your relationship with Franklin & Marshall.

Join us in affirming women philanthropists as central to F&M’s future. Learn more about how you can contribute to F&M Women & Philanthropy by contacting Kristen Krista, director of major gifts, at kkrista@fandm.edu or 732-693-2215.
