Frequently Asked Questions

Who can take summer session courses at F&M?

Summer session courses are open to all F&M students, students attending other colleges, and qualified high school juniors and seniors (entry-level courses only).

When do summer session courses begin and end?

There are two sessions. The first session takes place June 2 - July 1, while the second session takes place July 7 - August 5.

What courses are available?

Summer 2025 courses will be announced soon.

Will I earn college course credit towards my degree?

F&M summer courses count for credit towards an F&M degree. If you are pursuing a degree at another college, transferring credits will be at the discretion of the institution you attend. One F&M credit is equal to four semester hours.

Are courses in-person or online?

It varies by course. Some courses are only in-person, while others are only online. A few select courses offer both options.

I see some courses are labeled ‘asynchronous.’ What does that mean?

Asynchronous means that learning takes place at unfixed times for students enrolled in a course. You access your materials and assignments at your own pace and based on your own schedule.

How do I register for a course or courses?

If you'd like to take a course with F&M this summer, you will need to complete a registration form. We will share this form soon.

High school students who have not applied for admission to F&M will need to submit an official transcript to the Office of the Registrar.

Guest students from other colleges may need to provide a college transcript to demonstrate they have the prerequisites to take a higher-level course. F&M's Office of the Registrar will be in contact if a transcript is required.

When is the deadline to register for a course or courses?

Registration deadlines will be shared soon.

How much do summer session courses cost?

The cost per course is $2,900.

Can I get financial aid for summer session classes?

Institutional grants are not available for summer classes, but students can use private loans and/or state aid to finance tuition costs. Find more information about these funding options through our financial aid office.

When is tuition due for summer sessions?

Summer 2025 tuition due dates will be shared soon.

What happens if the course I registered for is canceled?

If F&M cancels a course for any reason, including a lack of sufficient enrollment, you will receive a full refund.

If you withdraw from a course, refunds are computed from the date of receipt of in-person or written notice via campus mail. For notices sent by U.S. mail, postmark date determines the withdrawal date. No withdrawals can be accepted by telephone.

The refund schedule for withdrawals is:

  • By 4:00 p.m. on the second day of classes: 100%
  • By 4:00 p.m. on the third day of classes: 75%
  • By 4:00 p.m. on the fourth day of classes: 50%
  • By 4:00 p.m. on the fifth day of classes: 25%
  • No refunds will be issued after the fifth day of the session
